You associate connection problems with high ping: you might lag a lot, maybe get disconnected from the server or have trouble connecting to the server.

To make your ping better, try closing a few programs while playing battlefield. That can often clog up your CPU and RAM and make your computer run slower.

for all who dont know what the "ping" is     

when you play online there are two diffrent versions of connection  the first one is the connection to the host or server (this mathod is mainly used).
your pc sends the informatons to the server and get em back in updated format that means the ping constists (i hope its written right) of the time your pc needs to send the informations(ca.40%), the time the server or host needs to update them ( ca 10 %), the time the informations nned to get back to your pc (ca.35%) and last the time your pc needs to handle the informations).
So the ping is only influenced by your internet connetion and not that much of your pc. the pc only influe the Fps (frames per second)

I think Keksi is close to it. Look at me for example, i average a 38-48 ping usually, so it would be assumed that i have no lag. But i play with a old video card so my fps' is very low.

Keks is right, closeing programs will only affect your fps, ping can be changed if you close programs that suck bandwith or turn other computers on the same network off. It is most affected by how  far away from the server you are and who is your isp (internet service provider)
